Jason A. from Waterbury sent us this story:
Dear Ms. Britt,
It is an honor to chat with someone as wise and gentle as you. I’ve been a fan of animation since I was a kid… And especially being a fan of both He-Man and She-Ra. Every Filmation cartoon has not only has action, adventure and comedy, but has a strong, moral lesson that goes with it and He-Man and She-Ra are no exception.
I started to slowly look back on the other female characters in animation and finally realize that they are much strong and competent like the male characters. But the one thing I also realize that there was one character that had an influence on Sailor Moon and other heroines to come, and that was She-Ra herself. She-Ra was like her brother, strong, courageous and above all, wise, for she has wisdom beyond her years. Her name Adora comes straight from the word, Adore, because she is not only wise, but also elegant, too, like a goddess. I see She-Ra as my most favorite fictional aunt, always watching over me, giving me advice and encouragement to be better.
To make a long story short, I wouldn’t be the strong yet sensitive young man that I am today, if it wasn’t for She-Ra. Wonder Woman may have been the first superheroine, but if it wasn’t for She-Ra, there wouldn’t be a Sailor Moon or a Twilight Sparkle. And I am forever grateful for what she has done, and so have you. That, and Gran Gran giving advice to two Southern Water Tribe siblings to embrace their destinies and help the Avatar bring peace and balance to the world. You are a class act.
Thank you for your time and like the song says, We have the Power…and so do you. Good Journey and stay frosty, my friend.
Sincerely,
Jason A.
Thank you so much, Jason. To have been able to make a positive difference in your life has made mine so much better.
