Stan Lee’s LA Comicon

November 8, 2017 by Melendy Britt

I had a great time at Stan Lee’s LA Comicon last the weekend of October! It was a full week of celebrating because that Friday night a Halloween Special I’d done was on CBS, then 2 days of meeting all of you at the convention, and then it was my birthday on the 31st. Since my birthday is also Halloween, there was lots of celebrating everywhere! It’s great to see everyone expressing creativity in costuming almost like cosplay at the conventions.
At this convention I got to see some wonderful old friends like Alan Oppenheimer and E.G. Daily—one of the sweetest most talented ladies I’ve ever known, and some of the most fun fans around as well as meeting new friends. You fans are just the best, and hearing all the stories how She-Ra brought so much to your lives is always inspiring.

There were interviews-(one with a charming puppet!) – a baby who although he actually couldn’t talk yet, could truly raise his arm to try to say “For the honor of Grayskull!” There was even a wonderful She-Ra ring designed and given to me by Brandon @Han Cholo.com.

As a matter of fact, She-Ra inspired me that weekend too. I hadn’t been feeling great since I tore a tendon in April, and trying to heal had been really fatiguing. Not being sure how much I’d be able to do that weekend was a fearful challenge, but calling on the strength of She-Ra and the love and support of members of the great rebellion (my loving and loyal friends and agent Pat Brady at CESD, Nery Lemus and Christopher Arsaga of Celebworx) and all the personal friends who called and messaged me to give me support, we did it!

I am so glad I overcame the fear of disappointing you (or fainting!) and showed up to say, “For the Honor of Grayskull, I am She-Ra!” at the panel.

I think that this convention held a great lesson for all of us. We have times in our lives when we need to overcome our fears and do something we don’t think we can do. I think when we can find those friends who support us in doing what we love in spite of obstacles, we’ve accomplished a great strength and character building exercise. And as well and so important, a confirmation that with love all things are possible! I believe that with all my heart.
Please know even though I don’t get to see all of you, I am always sending you love and support in all your endeavors. You’ve brought great joy to my life as well, and I am grateful for all of you fans of She-Ra.

Next year we’re trying to link up a few more conventions. I know I’l be in Sacramento for the SacAnime Convention in January, and hoping for London, so let’s hope I see you all soon! It’s always my pleasure.

Knoxville Fanboy Expo Comicon Fun !

July 3, 2017 by Melendy Britt

What fun was had in Knoxville! The Fanboy Expo Comicon was really great with all the vendors, the special guests and the fans. The staff, volunteers, and David who volunteered to help me at my table, were so accommodating, kind and attentive to us all. We truly appreciated it.

Knoxville fans are so welcoming and it warmed my heart to be able to connect with so many She-Ra fans who watched the show when they were little and are now bringing their kids up with the She-Ra episodes. I heard over and over about how the She-Ra episodes from the 80’s had changed their lives and how, with their kids watching them today, they, as parents, are able to re-enforce the important human values the series promoted with each episode.

Some have made it a joyful family tradition at Christmas to watch the Christmas Special.

And I was surprised when one 10 year old told me, “The cartoons today are stupid and don’t let or make you think.” Smart girl, wanting to THINK! That one statement gives me hope for the future. 🙂

I laughed so hard when one Mom told me that the only thing that will calm down her baby is if she plays the introduction to the series where I say, “For the Honor of Grayskull – I am She-Ra!”.  And a few parents told me they play an episode each night which helps their children sleep better! (There’s comfort in those episodes.)

One of the most special moments was when, at our panel, a little She-Ra I’d met the day before and talked with a long time during the day, was brave enough to come onstage at our panel and do the iconic “For the Honor of Grayskull, I am She-Ra!”. It took such courage to stand in front of a big crowd and do this. That’s She-Ra courage and I love her for it! Take a look at her saying the iconic “I AM SHE -RA!”.

And there were great fans of the Batgirl and Catwoman characters that I voiced in “The New Adventures of Batman” with Adam West and Burt Ward. I was so happy to have photos for them too.

I’m back home now and hope to see more of you in the coming months. Thanks to Christopher Arsaga and Nery Lemus of Celebworx for organizing all this so I could meet you. It’s always one of my greatest joys to hear how my work has made a positive influence for you then and now. You have the Power!

Lots of love to you all…and Happy 4th Of July !

Travelin’ To Tennessee for Fanboy Expo Comicon!

June 13, 2017 by Melendy Britt

I’m flying (wish it was on my pegasus Swift Wind!) next week to Fanboy Expo Comicon in Knoxville, Tennessee. www.fanboyexpo.com.

It’s been so long since I’ve posted! As with your lives, things have been going at such a fast pace this year, that each time I think I can write a lengthy post, something else happens to grab my “need to do” attention , so some things just don’t get done!

Anyway, it continues to be a busy year, but I wanted to let you all know that if you’re in or around Knoxville in June, I’ll be at the Fanboy Expo on June 23 and 24th. So excited to see old friends and make new ones!

Your loyalty to She-Ra and all the values she represents is such a great feeling and as always, I feel honored to try to live up to everything she represents. Of course, I don’t have her superpowers, but I do honor the miracles that super-minded people can accomplish!

Keep strong, friends. Honor She-Ra’s principals  of love, integrity, kindness, and honorable strength.

Keep fighting the good fight – For The Honor of Grayskull!

Hope to see you soon!

My Hero

March 13, 2017 by Melendy Britt

K. Morgan from Houston , Texas sent us this story:

She-Ra was my hero growing up. I still have my She-Ra doll, well, I’ve passed it on to my daughter and she loves the doll as much as I did. Strong female leads back in the day were few and far between, so thank you for bringing She-Ra to life. She is and always will be one of my heroes . She-Ra was such , and still is, an inspiration to me and now my daughter.

Thank you very much. I am honored to have been able to inspire through her. <3

Happy Holiday Time!

December 21, 2016 by Melendy Britt

This is my absolute favorite Holiday Time of the year…
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy “Everything that Celebrates Loving One Another!”

The time right after Thanksgiving has gone so fast, that I’m whirling in circles of getting things ready to celebrate with my family and friends here and taking time to meditate on why we have this Holiday Time and what remembering its meaning can create for us.
I always reflect in my meditation on how fortunate I am to have each of you who are fans of She-Ra and other work I’ve done. There are days you make what could otherwise just be a cloudy winter day, a very bright one. Thank you, thank you, for being such great fans.

This year has been a difficult one for so many and it’s a prayer we all share that 2017 will be much better…that the stresses and fears and discords of 2016 will be but memories of a strange time in our lives.

I’m taking extra time now to focus on the good in my life, the blessings I have, and the opportunities to help where I can. Work has ceased for a bit while everyone is focusing on this Holiday Time, and people are visiting loved ones and meeting new friends of like mind.
Let’s let our hearts be light and smile as much as possible. We all deserve it!
It is my deepest wish for all of you that your Holidays are happy and filled with the warmth of loving companions…and may all the admiration you’ve given me be returned to you 100 times over!

Happy She-Ra Thanksgiving!

November 22, 2016 by Melendy Britt

Hi there :-),
This week of Thanksgiving I want to thank you all for being great fans of She-Ra and what she stands for in her animated kingdom. I will spend Thanksgiving with family and friends, so for me it will be a blessing to have food on the table and the knowledge that no matter what, there is love and gratitude in my life.

I’m posting some photos of the Brazos Valley STX Comicon which I attended a couple weeks ago.

Some of the animators from the series were there as well as animators from The Simpsons. They did a terrific drawing showing what She-Ra and Skeletor would look like as a Simpson character. What fun we had…and those guys are so talented! Skeletor (Alan ani-guysalan-and-meOppenheimer) was there. We always have great laughs, and I met new friends from the Netflix series, “Stranger Things”. Terrific people!

joe-wrightbrazos-valleyThere was Jim, a really witty guy who shows the car from Starsky and Hutch at Cons and has an 80’s TV along side showing episodes of the series. Well, as fate would have it…an episode I was on was playing! It was such fun to see the old 80’s show.

I really felt the love from the fans who stopped by and we talked about how She-Ra was so instrumental in their lives. One fan gave me a She-Ra sword too!

I believe that with love all things are possible, and I know She-Ra believes that too. Love has great power, and you all have the Power! If you know someone who needs to have an act of kindness done for them, do it this Thanksgiving, and that love will fill your heart as well.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody! I love you all for loving She-Ra and being great fans!
