Happy Holiday Time!

December 21, 2016 by Melendy Britt

This is my absolute favorite Holiday Time of the year…
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy “Everything that Celebrates Loving One Another!”

The time right after Thanksgiving has gone so fast, that I’m whirling in circles of getting things ready to celebrate with my family and friends here and taking time to meditate on why we have this Holiday Time and what remembering its meaning can create for us.
I always reflect in my meditation on how fortunate I am to have each of you who are fans of She-Ra and other work I’ve done. There are days you make what could otherwise just be a cloudy winter day, a very bright one. Thank you, thank you, for being such great fans.

This year has been a difficult one for so many and it’s a prayer we all share that 2017 will be much better…that the stresses and fears and discords of 2016 will be but memories of a strange time in our lives.

I’m taking extra time now to focus on the good in my life, the blessings I have, and the opportunities to help where I can. Work has ceased for a bit while everyone is focusing on this Holiday Time, and people are visiting loved ones and meeting new friends of like mind.
Let’s let our hearts be light and smile as much as possible. We all deserve it!
It is my deepest wish for all of you that your Holidays are happy and filled with the warmth of loving companions…and may all the admiration you’ve given me be returned to you 100 times over!

Happy She-Ra Thanksgiving!

November 22, 2016 by Melendy Britt

Hi there :-),
This week of Thanksgiving I want to thank you all for being great fans of She-Ra and what she stands for in her animated kingdom. I will spend Thanksgiving with family and friends, so for me it will be a blessing to have food on the table and the knowledge that no matter what, there is love and gratitude in my life.

I’m posting some photos of the Brazos Valley STX Comicon which I attended a couple weeks ago.

Some of the animators from the series were there as well as animators from The Simpsons. They did a terrific drawing showing what She-Ra and Skeletor would look like as a Simpson character. What fun we had…and those guys are so talented! Skeletor (Alan ani-guysalan-and-meOppenheimer) was there. We always have great laughs, and I met new friends from the Netflix series, “Stranger Things”. Terrific people!

joe-wrightbrazos-valleyThere was Jim, a really witty guy who shows the car from Starsky and Hutch at Cons and has an 80’s TV along side showing episodes of the series. Well, as fate would have it…an episode I was on was playing! It was such fun to see the old 80’s show.

I really felt the love from the fans who stopped by and we talked about how She-Ra was so instrumental in their lives. One fan gave me a She-Ra sword too!

I believe that with love all things are possible, and I know She-Ra believes that too. Love has great power, and you all have the Power! If you know someone who needs to have an act of kindness done for them, do it this Thanksgiving, and that love will fill your heart as well.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody! I love you all for loving She-Ra and being great fans!

Brazos Valley Comicon 2016

November 1, 2016 by Melendy Britt

I’m packing a suitcase to go to the Brazos Valley Comicon in Texas! I’m looking forward to meeting some fine Texas people. I grew up in Texas, and remember the hospitality there, so am ready to return for a visit!

What a strange world we’re trying to live in today—right?
If it were possible, She-Ra and her Sword of Protection would come in and fix everything in our Eternia, but alas, that’s not possible – even if I do have a “She-Ra for President” t-shirt!

But, I will be representing She-Ra and all the good she stands for right before the Presidential election at the Brazos Valley Comic Con in College Station, Texas .

Even though I grew up in Texas I’ve never been to College Station, so I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there! In case you might be in the area, I’ll be there November 5th and 6th. Skeletor, (my good buddy Alan Oppenheimer) will be there too! We have such a fun time when we’re together and I’m so glad to be with him at this Convention.

I had a great birthday this Halloween —(Yep – It’s really on Halloween ), and there’s no other costume for me to ever even try except She-Ra!
This year I had a great birthday with family and friends and with all the loving wishes from you all, it was another great end to a birthday year, and the start of a new one filled with so much more.brazos-con-promo
I’ll get some photos from The Texas Con and post them asap!

Love to you all—and remember to vote because you have love in your heart. And love needs action …especially right now.

If It Wasn’t For She-Ra

November 1, 2016 by Admin

Jason A. from Waterbury sent us this story:

Dear Ms. Britt,

It is an honor to chat with someone as wise and gentle as you. I’ve been a fan of animation since I was a kid… And especially being a fan of both He-Man and She-Ra. Every Filmation cartoon has not only has action, adventure and comedy, but has a strong, moral lesson that goes with it and He-Man and She-Ra are no exception.

I started to slowly look back on the other female characters in animation and finally realize that they are much strong and competent like the male characters. But the one thing I also realize that there was one character that had an influence on Sailor Moon and other heroines to come, and that was She-Ra herself. She-Ra was like her brother, strong, courageous and above all, wise, for she has wisdom beyond her years. Her name Adora comes straight from the word, Adore, because she is not only wise, but also elegant, too, like a goddess. I see She-Ra as my most favorite fictional aunt, always watching over me, giving me advice and encouragement to be better.

To make a long story short, I wouldn’t be the strong yet sensitive young man that I am today, if it wasn’t for She-Ra. Wonder Woman may have been the first superheroine, but if it wasn’t for She-Ra, there wouldn’t be a Sailor Moon or a Twilight Sparkle. And I am forever grateful for what she has done, and so have you. That, and Gran Gran giving advice to two Southern Water Tribe siblings to embrace their destinies and help the Avatar bring peace and balance to the world. You are a class act.

Thank you for your time and like the song says, We have the Power…and so do you. Good Journey and stay frosty, my friend.

Sincerely,

Jason A.

Thank you so much, Jason. To have been able to make a positive difference in your life has made mine so much better.

Love and Light

September 21, 2016 by Melendy Britt

I’ll start this newsletter by saying that in my personal life all is good, and last week I received lots of letters from you which were so thoughtful, kind, and again showed me how fortunate I am to have been chosen to do the kind of work I do. The fans of She-Ra and the other work I’ve done are the absolute most loving, fun and very special people in the world! I’m so grateful for you all.

There was a letter this week from a She-Ra fan in China….CHINA! I’d no idea the series played in China, but he said at one time it had, and then it disappeared. But the internet came and he and his friends found it again, so they all play different parts in the series and they added Buddha as a hero—except they keep my voice as She-Ra because they feel my voice is the only voice that should be her. I guess they play the cartoon and each plays a part. I’m not quite sure how that all works but, talk about flattering! That really made my heart sing. I feel as if I’m a part of their lives in a really fun way.

When China first opened up to tourists again in the 80’s, I visited China. I remember walking down a street in a small village, and coming toward me on the sidewalk with a brisk walk, was a young boy about 12 with this head looking down on the ground. When he sensed someone in front of him, he lifted his head and literally gasped. He stopped in his tracks, his eyes opened as if he’d seen a ghost! He was so frightened and passed me in a rush. It dawned on me he’d never seen a person from America or Europe before, particularly a blond person, and I’d scared him to death! I’m sure he had quite a story to tell his friends!

These last few weeks I’ve been thinking of the endings the She-Ra series had where we’d talk to the kids and give a few loving lessons in becoming a good human being. The world events of the last months and particularly the last few weeks, have been quite upsetting. The hate-filled speech, the hate-filled actions of a few make me think about all the good people who suffer because of the speech and actions of those few. We must all find strength from the heart in ourselves and not succumb to fear. We cannot fight darkness with darkness. We have to become such a blinding light for good and love that the light dispels the darkness of fear and the love dispels the hate.
I think that will mean looking very closely at ourselves and how our neglect in some areas of our thinking has let this darkness grow in our society. Each one of us must be the light we want to see everywhere. The noise of hate is loud, and love can sometimes be a soft whisper. Perhaps all of us feeling and practicing love can make those whispers into a huge noise, and begin to counter-act the loud voices of hate. We are at what seems a bizarre, but perhaps transforming time in history. I believe we will triumph through a transformation. I have no idea when that will happen, but it must.
Well, you can see what has occupied my mind for quite a while! I kept waiting for something wonderful to be in the news to inspire me but I seem to see inspiration mostly in my small personal world. Thank goodness I do. The kindness and love of people in crisis, the kindness and love from friends and family, the kindness of the love you all express to me about She-Ra and what she’s meant to you is a blessing. I hope you see it in your own lives. Let’s all be strong in the compassionate light of love toward one another, and become the blinding light of love we all want and need.
And always, “For the Honor of Grayskull” – much love to you all,
Melendy

She-Ra’s home

August 11, 2016 by Melendy Britt

Hi everyone!

Just an update on what’s going on here in my world and with some thoughts to share:

I was so sorry I didn’t get to go to the London Comicon to meet the fans at the end of July! I had really hoped all the details could be worked out, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I hope things can be worked out at another time to meet you all! At each convention I have such a great time talking with all of you and hearing how much you love She-Ra.

This month I’ve been busy here auditioning and keeping in touch with you on Facebook as much as I can and this week I was thinking about Shera’s planet of Etheria. I somehow think the name of her world came from the adjective, ethereal:

Simple definition of ethereal:

• in heaven
• resembling heaven : seeming to belong to another world
• very delicate

So much of Shera’s world which was not heavenly or delicate (such as the evil forces) could be overcome and/or conquered by her incredible unworldly spiritual powers.

The world we live in sometimes seems quite unlike Etheria or a heavenly place, but many of the obstacles and challenges we face in today’s world can also be overcome by our spiritual power.

We all have some SheRa-like power even if it seems magical to us. It’s a highly refined way of thinking, where unconditional love and spirituality is in its best expression.

When used for good, it’s a wonder-filled way to live. We walk a little lighter on the earth and the compassionate power of love brings more creativity, contentment and joy.

Every day is a new beginning, so I say (and I’m sure SheRa would as well) find your truth and bring a deeper meaning to daily life.

See where you can make a difference – And always take the high road.

For the honor of Grayskull!

For the Honor of Love!
You Have the Power!
Thinking of you and sending love to you all always,
Melendy
